| | Nuclear Asset Management: Work Management | |
|
Industry performance, in terms of
reliability and production cost, has flattened over the past five years. With
little guidance from the industry, management is left to their own devices to
develop solutions taking performance to the next level. Since about half of
nuclear plant operating and maintenance expenses are consumed within the Work
Management process, it becomes an obvious opportunity for improvement. Navigating
through these complex waters and finding solutions to improve the Work Management
process will benefit both plant reliability and cost. Improvement in Work Control
is the path to improved performance in Work Management.
MCR's approach to improving Work Control ensures crisp execution across the
process while aligning work with business plan objectives. We employ analytical
tools using graded criteria to generate quantitative results. The quantitative
analysis identifies areas where improvement is most urgently needed and provides
the prioritization basis for developing an action plan. Implementing the action
plan will correct chronic process challenges by aligning Work Management team
efforts along optimized work flows and will provide sufficient direction to
ensure work flow requirements are appropriately satisfied. Once the action plan
has been implemented, performance monitoring will ensure improvements are sustained.
