Director, Utility Rates and Regulatory Services

MCR’s Rates and Regulatory Services consulting practice provides customized solutions for regulatory strategies, rate case processes and rate relief proceedings. MCR has proven experience in federal and state regulation, and offers its services to investor owned utilities, public power utilities and governmental entities.

MCR seeks a Director for its Rates and Regulatory Consulting Services. The ideal candidate has previous consulting experience with regulatory compliance issues for electric and natural gas utility companies, new business development, expert witness testimony before FERC and state regulatory commissions and project management experience. MCR will consider candidates currently holding positions in senior management within regulatory affairs at utility companies.

Performance Expectations:

  • Establish business relationships with clients and prospective clients
  • Market and sell consulting services and projects
  • Apply utility expertise and broad set of business skills to client projects
  • Manage project teams to strategize, plan, perform and implement solutions to complex regulatory issues confronting utilities
  • Foster client relationships through positive client team interactions


  • Graduate from a four-year college with a degree in business, economics, accounting, public policy analysis or other related field; MBA preferred, but not required
  • Specific experience in electric rates and regulatory work through consulting work for multiple utilities or through direct employment with a utility
  • Credibility among clients to effect consideration and acceptance of rates and regulatory consulting services
  • Project planning and project management experience
  • Leadership experience
  • Strong competence in Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, etc.)
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to manage time and develop high quality work products

Consultants can expect a significant amount of business travel. Relocation is unnecessary since our Company uses a virtual office model.
